In the month of August/September Sindhi Association of Victoria is celebrating two of our Sindhi festivals,
1) Teejri
2) Thadarie
The Sindhi ladies observe Teejri for the well being of their husbands. This falls on the third day of the moonlit fortnight of the month of Shravan.
On the eve of this day,women apply mehendi on their hands, go on fast for the whole day and in the night after making an offering to the moon, they would break the fast.
Details of Teejri function:-
Date : Friday 23rd August 2013
Time : 7pm to 10pm
Venue : Shirdi Sai Baba Temple/Jhulelal Temple
32 Halley Ave, Camberwell VIC 3124
It will be a fun filled evening where Mehandi will be applied on the hands of our lovely Sindhi ladies, followed by Teejri Katha and Chand Pooja
which will be done under the guidance of our Sindhi Priest Gulwani Maharaj. We also have plenty of fun games for elders and kids.
Like every year this year also please bring in one vegetarian dish with you.
CHOICE OF FOOD:
Sai Bhaji, Sindhi Kadhi, Bhee Patata, Took Aloo/ Bhindi, Any Vegetable, Papad/Kheecha, Puhlkas, Sweets/Deserts, Salad, Raita.
(Please don’t worry about the rice… because we have an arrangement of cooking rice at the venue itself……)
